Work schedule: 2nd shift, Mon-Fri 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm

Job Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Maintenance, the mechanic will have the primary responsibility for uptime/ maintenance and repair of coating and mixing operations as well as all other pharmaceutical production equipment. Assist in monitoring and up-time of building facilities equipment.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on production machinery according to PM schedules
Performs general maintenance including welding and basic electric; fabricates and installs parts when necessary, and documents all repair or maintenance work done on any equipment.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Perform other miscellaneous duties/projects as assigned by supervisor.
Monitors building management system and reports any alarms to the appropriate groups.
Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical and electronic pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
Interfaces with PLC control systems to facilitate troubleshooting.
Address emergency breakdowns and able to work overtime as needed.

Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching climbing and walking, vision to monitor, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment.
Must perform work in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures for equipment operations including safety rules and regulations.
Mechanical experience with electrical and pneumatic control systems.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and applications.
Must be proficient in using personal computers and a working knowledge of software such as MS Excel and Word.
Equipment operations and maintenance practices
Must have the ability to analyze, investigate and help solve technical issues involving the equipment.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Must be a team player.
Ability to work with very minimum supervision.
Must be self-oriented and proactive.
Must have a good attitude regarding safety and lock out procedures.
Technical school education or equivalent education/experience.
Strong background in machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge and experience working with machine control systems including PLC s (AB, SIEMENS), servo controls, and Variable Speed Drives

Nice to haves:
A minimum of 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience with primarily concentrations in Coating, mixing, extrusion and other pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
Continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to maintain compliance in a regulated facility.
Fully verse in pharmaceutical plant operations (production, maintenance and quality). Previous experience in pharmaceutical or food facility.
Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements.
