The Analytical Chemist position is responsible for providing analytical testing of pharmaceutical materials in support of Catalent Microns contract manufacturing operations and contract analytical services. Testing includes (but is not limited to) characterization of drug substance physical properties (particle size analysis, x-ray powder diffraction, surface area analysis etc.) and chemical testing of drug substance and drug product samples (HPLC, GC, Karl Fisher etc.), stability testing, release testing etc.
The position requires detail-oriented individuals with strong organizational, communication (oral and written), time management and multi-tasking skills.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: Responsible for mechanical/ electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting, process improvements, equipment changeovers, fabrication of machine parts on packaging machinery, as per training administered.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Demonstrate competency on all requirements for a Packaging Mechanic
Performs all work in accordance to company policies, procedures and regulations contained in company GMP S, safety standards, SOP s etc.
Demonstrate competency in electrical safety
Performs minor machining and shop work including part modification and fabrication
Demonstrates mechanical-troubleshooting abilities, identifies and resolves issues utilizing systematic problem-solving methods
Describe and understand the components for various equipment
Read and understand equipment operation and maintenance manuals, and technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Changeover designated packaging lines such as blistering, bottling, and other specialty packaging equipment
Performs equipment repairs and upgrades
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on designated equipment
Provide guidance, assistance and team leadership
Maintains records and documentation as required
Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and safe order. Provide guidance, assistance, leadership, and training to other Mechanics
Exhibits flexibility acquired through training to be utilized at any position as needed in the company, or elsewhere in the facility, or as a trainer
Machinery parts and assemblies, piping and fittings, lubricant, solutions, welding materials, electric/ electronic devices, changeover parts as per training administered
Various hand and power tools, machine shop equipment, welding equipment, electrical testing equipment, measuring instruments and other devices required used in the setting up and testing of Clinical s packaging equipment as per training administered
EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT:
High School diploma required and the ability to read and write English
Combination of Ten- (10) years equivalent experience as a packaging maintenance mechanic, mechanical maintenance mechanic or electrical maintenance mechanic with the equivalent technical training
