  • Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am 5:00 pm with possible weekend work

Job Scope: This position will assist patients with access to medications by reviewing the patients plan benefits and prior authorizations, with a strong focus on prior authorizations. After prior authorization determination, facilitate the triage of prescriptions to the patients preferred pharmacy, working within the established guidelines, standard operating procedures and timelines. The focus is on securing access to the patients medication.
  • Work assigned prior authorizations; initiate requests, follow-up to provide additionally required information, track progress and expedite responses from insurance carriers and other payers
  • Ensure that all work is processed in compliance with client service level agreements and company policies and procedures
  • Track, report and escalate service issues arising from requests for authorizations, program eligibility or other issues that delay service, to ensure patient access and avoiding delays that interrupt therapy
  • Document case activity, communications and correspondence in computer system to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient contact records in compliance with company requirements and the Service Level Agreements
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements
  • Accept additional responsibilities and/or projects as directed by leadership
Skills Needed:
  • College degree is preferred, but high school diploma or equivalent is accepted
  • Previous work experience managing a client/customer book of business
  • MUST HAVE experience in Specialty Pharmacy
  • MUST HAVE experience with prior authorization
  • Professional level skills in computer use, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, email, web-based applications, and keyboard skills
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly, specifically in accordance with company and program policies and procedures
  • Professional level knowledge of customer care processes and telephone skills
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics
