Employment Type: Contract 6 months with possible extension or conversion

Job Scope:
The Senior Chemist is responsible for training the chemists and entry-level chemists. Assumes responsibility for Chemistry Documentation review and troubleshooting instrumentation. Supports all new NPD project activities. Directly supports Chemistry Management. Audit and review analytical testing, reagent preparation, instrument calibration and validation testing performed in the Chemistry Laboratory. Leads the support for validation projects and coordinating methods transfers from customers.
The Senior Chemist plays a crucial role in the Patient First philosophy by analyzing product samples and reporting accurate, precise test results in a timely manner to our internal customers. These results ensure our products are safe, effective, and delivered on time to patients.

Skills Needed:
o Perform validation protocols; method transfers and write standard operating procedures for new equipment and/or processes.
o Coordinate testing with Validation and NPD to provide chemical testing support and personnel for testing.
o Respond to Customer and interdepartmental requests for information on raw materials and method transfers availability.
o Train chemists and entry-level chemists on analytical testing on raw materials, in-process bulk material, finished product, cleaning, customer and stability examples.
o Review and approve Documentation for the release of product. Review Standard Operating Procedure revisions and report forms to increase efficiency of chemists and maintain cGMP and GLP s.
o Support new NPD projects.
o Guide Chemistry Out of Specification (OOS) investigations and non-routine events. Investigate for the root cause of the OOS. Help to maintain a cGMP laboratory.
o Audit and review all laboratory and chemist procedures and work product including: In- process, cleaning samples, finished product, raw material and water testing; notebook, validation and expiration studies; reagent and standard preparation and instrument usage logs.

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Sciences or equivalent
5+ years experience in a cGMP and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Experience within HPLC, GC, dissolutuion is a plus. Experience within method validation is highly desired. Experience leading, mentororing, guiding entry Level Chemists is desired.
