Title: Egress Mechanic
Location: Houston, TX
Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $35-40/hr.

Primary Function: The Egress Mechanic maintains aircraft egress systems including ejection seats, canopies, hatches, and modules; explosive components; subsystems; and related support equipment (SE).

  • Advises on and solves installation, maintenance, and repair problems by studying schematic and technical publications.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and recommends corrective action.
  • Implements maintenance and safety policies for egress systems.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on egress systems. Removes and installs egress systems.
  • Ensures egress explosive cartridge activated devices (CAD) and pressure activated devices (PAD) are safe and disarmed prior to performing maintenance.
  • Performs operational and functional tests of egress systems, subsystems, and components using test equipment and test kits.
  • Applies corrosion control procedures to escape systems and related components.
  • Operates and maintains related SE.
  • Uses the automated maintenance system NAMIS to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.
  • Performs integrity inspections of the escape system.
  • Inspects egress systems, subsystems, and components for safety, security, and serviceability.
  • Inspects and determines serviceability of CAD and PAD devices based on shelf and service life limits.
  • Uses and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
  • May be required to perform maintenance on aircraft, including avionics, mechanical systems, and/or ground support equipment.
  • May include Designated System Inspector (DSI) duties.
  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
  • Maintain control tools. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
  • Use NASA s automated maintenance data system (NAMIS) to maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
  • The Aircraft Mechanic III Egress may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge is mandatory of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical principles applying to aircrew egress systems; concepts and application of applicable maintenance directives; and using and interpreting schematic drawings, and technical publications.
  • May require a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification
  • 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience with fixed wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft required.
  • Must have experience on maintaining, servicing, installing and removing NACES and ACES II ejection seats and Martin Baker MK US16LN.
  • Experience supporting a NASA/DoD contract.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
