Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, safely conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance support across various types of equipment within the plant to maintain efficient, dependable, safe and cost-effective plant operations.

Essential Duties:

  • Adhere to all OSHA, NFPA, NEC safety requirements as it relates to the duties of a technician.
  • Complete all required OSHA or corporate training courses as defined by management before conducting tasks
  • Wear proper PPE based for the task at hand
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide management a repair solution including parts list and timeline
  • Typical equipment includes, but not limited to: 1) process pumps and mixing equipment, 2) pneumatic components and control systems, 3) hydraulic components and control systems, 4) power transmission systems (gearboxes, chains, drives, etc), 4) relay logic, 5) field instrumentation, 6) PLC/DCS troubleshooting
  • Obtaining quotations on equipment and services required to perform tasks
  • Establish and maintain positive working relations with various equipment vendors
  • Help train operators on new equipment or revised equipment regarding safe and proper operations
  • Maintain maintenance shop in a clean, organized, professional condition, following all safety requirements for hazardous materials
  • Keep all tools, power equipment, and other tools of the trade in a clean and safe working condition
  • Complete all documentation for LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work and other related documents before performing any work
  • Maintain effective and positive communication with production staff
  • Keep management aware of pending issues and status of installation or repair
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on key plant equipment
  • Strive to meet safety targets or objective set by the supervisor or management
Skills Required:
  • Must have 20/20 or corrected 20/20 vision
  • Solid experience installing and rebuilding PD pumps, air pumps, pneumatic cylinders and gearboxes
  • Proficient installing electric motors from 3HP 120v to 100HP 480v multiphase
  • Demonstrate a history of performing quality mechanical and electrical work
  • Ability to perform pipe and structural welds for carbon steel.
  • Ability to use and interpret data collected from electrical multi meters for troubleshooting analog and discrete controls as well as power circuits up to 480VAC.
  • Comprehensive understanding of low voltage systems and how to resolve equipment issues.
  • Employee must be able to safely lift in excess of 80 pounds without difficulty
  • Employee must have full range of motion and able to work in awkward positions
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 50 feet without concern
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of plant personnel in a positive and productive way
  • Solid computer skills: Windows, print jobs, email and internet, basic understanding of industrial communication protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong PLC troubleshooting skills and experience working on automated equipment
  • Welding certifications or vocational training.
  • Coursework or AAS degree in electronics, mechatronics, or electromechanical topics covering, industrial electricity, motors and control, electric troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics to troubleshoot, repair, or fabricate accordingly.
