Lead Transport Network Architect

Salary: $160k-$190k

  • BICSI RCDD certification
  • BS in Telecommunications or equivalent work experience (8 years experience in telecommunications O&M, installation, and engineering)
  • Experience with optical equipment, SONET and wavelength division multiplexing
  • Knowledge of Lucent, Ciena/Nortel, Infinera and Cisco equipment & optical dispersion/testing
  • Ability to redline as-built drawings and update and create Engineering Design Packages (EDPs)

  • Analyzes customer's business needs and develops solutions based on knowledge of customer and company networks and equipment, uses traffic modeling, restoration techniques, diversity analysis, etc. Completes highly difficult, custom designs.
  • Creates Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Inside Plant (ISP) construction projects including labor estimates, material estimates, Other Direct Charges, Travel, etc
  • Prepares highly complex technical proposals and presentations for specific products.
  • Demonstrates solution selling abilities and effective, pro-active customer communications. Interacts independently with all levels of the customer's management team.
  • Reviews and analyzes RFP, RFQ, and RFIs to respond with compliant, competitive solutions and documents (writes) to those solutions in proposal responses
  • Coordinates subcontractors, materials, tools and equipment to complete projects on schedule and within budget
  • Knowledge of ITU-T G.709 and other standards pertaining to Optical Transport networks
  • Produces Site Survey Reports, Engineering Design Packages (EDPs) and Asbuilts for ISP installations
  • Write SOWs, Method of Procedures (MOPs), test and acceptance plans using corporate standards, best commercial practices and customer site standards
  • Develops total cost, risk, and implementation models with internal network operations groups. Recommends contract approval or rejection.
  • Performs testing of DS-3 through OC-192and G.709 circuits using Bit Error Rate Testers, OTDRs, Optical Powers Meters, and other optical test equipment
  • Updates network drawings using CAD MS Visio and other software-based applications
  • Works as a team with sales account managers, customer care manager, sales engineering and other internal customer support groups to meet customer needs.
  • Design site cable tray systems, cable paths, and conveyances
  • Develop estimates for project schedules and budget
