In this role, you will assist all departments in expediting and completing purchasing projects. You will also be responsible for producing accurate and thorough takeoffs and budgets, purchasing materials, hiring trade contractors and maintaining low costs while meeting quality standards.

  • Write Purchase Orders detailed and accurately and enter into Newstar
  • Provide upkeep and accurate maintenance of assigned jobs on Build Pro
  • Research and approve subcontractor invoices and VPO's to meet accounting deadlines
  • Assist Purchasing Manager in establishing and maintaining database and master price books for the company and departmental use.
  • Estimate and cost all plans, custom features and compile accurate quantity take-offs. Establish and monitor budgets for all construction phases. Help identify cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures.
  • Perform cost comparison and analysis as requested by the Purchasing Manager and Division President. Update cost information in price file.
  • Monitor plan changes and estimate prices for all plan changes.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in the recruitment and maintenance of relationships with quality, reliable trade contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Supervise preparation of bid packages. Troubleshoot problems with trade contractors and suppliers.
  • Enter the required data into Newstar (TC).
  • Work with Design Consultant(s) provide backup and support for entering custom design options in Newstar on a timely basis.
  • Review and approve Design Consultants Start Packs, Custom Features and Change Orders.
  • Assist President with administrative support, spreadsheets and any other follow-up and tracking as needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years direct purchasing experience; residential home builder purchasing experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with Newstar preferred
