Senior Buyer/Purchasing Specialist-Pharmaceutical
Great opportunity for a growing nutraceutical company in Largo, FL. Purchasing Specialist/Buyer with pharmaceutical experience and procurement/ contracting, direct material, negotiation experience as well. This is a perm position and only local candidates will be considered as there will be no relocation assistance. The position is paying $70k-$90k

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • This role will also support the department head in executing the Procurement roadmap and key category strategies.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Independently procures materials and services based on the established site business model.
  • Aggressively seeks and secures cost savings and/or cost avoidances on raw materials and/or site services.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
  • Manage the forecast and ordering process of direct materials (APIs, Excipients, Packaging Components, etc.)
  • Act as the liaison between Procurement s long term strategies and site day-today activities by placing purchase orders and maintaining relationship with key suppliers and stakeholders
  • Manage and support CIP projects
  • Deliver and track cost savings by introducing business acumen and establishing a process to ensure savings are realized according to plan
  • Support Procurement Director on other category strategies and negotiations (Capex, Services, New Product Launch)
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and R&D functions to conduct site evaluations, supplier selection, risk mitigation, quarterly business reviews and strategy development
  • Provide sourcing project support including management of Request For Proposal, Change Controls, Quarterly Business Reviews
WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • A BS degree in Business, Engineering, Science, plus MBA would be preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align with internal business partners to influence spend behavior; and with external suppliers to increase performance
  • Must have excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, ability to influence without direct authority
  • Ability to operate and execute effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • 4-6 years in pharmaceutical industry leading cross-functional strategic sourcing projects
  • At least 4 years of direct material experience
  • Experience with supplier quality and change control process
  • Experience with DEA quota ordering (plus)
  • Must be customer oriented, flexible, team player, improvement minded, initiative taker, proactive, with good judgment and decision making ability
