The Mechanic is a key support function for the Manufacturing and Technical Service Areas. They are responsible for the planned and unplanned maintenance of production and plant equipment utilizing their skill and knowledge to troubleshoot, identify, and repair equipment in a timely manner. They are also tasked with the interpretation of drawings, manuals, and electronic searches to identify replacements parts for non-stock items.
Experience with U.V. spectroscopy
Experience with IR and AA instrumentation
H.P.L.C. and G.C. instrumentation experience Autoclave and Vitek
Experience in dissolution testing
Expertise in wet chemistry techniques such as titrations, extractions, digestions and preparations of test solutions.
Knowledge of safety and hazardous waste requirements
Knowledge of data acquisition applications and databases
Experience in conducting and writing laboratory investigations
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift to 15 pounds; no lifting greater than 44.09 pounds without assistance.
Be accessible to manufacturing, laboratory and office staff
Can use required office equipment
Vision requirements include ability to differentiate color, have 20/30 vision with or without corrective lenses, read written documents and frequent use of a computer monitor.
Ability to work extended hours or off-hours as required
Performs analysis of finished products, validation samples, in-process materials and raw materials, moisture testing, Gas, Water and manufacturing environmental sampling and testing according to the effective protocols, Methods and Compendials.
Cultivate & identify bacteria or other microorganisms isolated on selective & non-selective media
Maintains cultures according to ATCC and departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs identification of microorganisms using techniques such as API, Gram Stain, etc.
Prepares reagents, standards, media, etc. needed for analysis.
Works with potent and teratogenic compounds.
Disposes of hazardous waste according to environmental regulations and company/departmental procedures.
Interprets and tabulates results of analysis. Records the results in approved notebooks, reports and logbooks.
Logs results in LIMS database.
Audits analyst's and technician's calculations in notebooks/logbooks and verifies results in reports and/or appropriate systems (LIMS) to check for accuracy and integrity of data.
Supervises and schedules work assignments for analytical chemists and technicians
Releases samples (LIMS) to Quality Assurance for product disposition
Manages new product, method and technology transfers
Perform analysis of non-routine products.
Develops new analytical testing procedures or modifies existing test procedures.
Required to read and execute departmental methods and SOPs.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
Works flexible hours including weekends and evenings to accommodate the production / validation schedule.
May assist Group Leader in the following:
Supervision of Scientist;
Training Scientists, Associate Scientist and laboratory technicians.
Perform internal audits of the Laboratory.
Monitors laboratory conditions and reviews test results to insure compliance with Compendial, FDA and Internal requirements.
Detects and corrects safety hazards and practices in the laboratory.
Maintains supply and equipment inventory.
Works under the general supervision of a Group Leader.
Performs as the Group Leader s Designee in the absence of the Group Leader
Independently test, develop and implement assays useful for the identification and characterization of Raw Materials, pre-capsulation, Stability and Finished Products. Analyze data, perform statistical analyses, document results, maintain laboratory notebook according to cGMP and Internal guidelines.
The Candidate must have at least (8) years experience in an analytical laboratory.
Education or Equivalent:
Bachelor s Degree in Science or related field required (Chemistry, Microbiology or Biology preferred).
