Job Description

Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer
Salary: $25-30/hr.
Location: Clearwater, FL
Type: 3-month contract

In this role, you ll work primarily with the internal clinical application (EMR) project team and subject matter experts from various business and clinical departments. Reporting to the EMR Project Manager, the incumbent will attend all project meetings and working sessions to gather, write, and publish technical and user documentation for our EMR implementation. You will produce a variety of top-quality materials such as technical and user documentation containing infographics, screenshot markups, and embedded training videos.

Responsibilities
  • Develop our internal documentation system for the EMR that Client is implementing for all its patient programs.
  • Participate in all project meetings and taking appropriate notes that will become a part of the final documentation product.
  • Create in-depth user guides, FAQs, and technical overviews.
  • Test the product against the documentation for accuracy and consistency.
  • Adapt rapidly to a changing industry and be able to adjust responsibilities, time, and objectives accordingly.
  • Identify problem areas in the organizations documentation for deficiencies and proactively contribute to their improvement.
  • Regular communication and synchronization with the Project Manager and core members of the implementation team.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in English, Communication, or Journalism.
  • 2-5 years experience working as a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist or in related job role.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex content.
  • Strong technical aptitude ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly for multiple audiences using either formal or more casual tones.
  • Excellent work ethic and strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and multi-task.
  • Desire and ability to innovate and improve upon current processes.
  • Experience creating infographics to more clearly communicate workflow processes and abstract topics.
  • Track record of effective collaboration.

Preferred
  • Experience working in Healthcare.
  • Experience working with a mix of Waterfall and Agile/Scrum software implementation teams.
  • Experience writing content for package software applications.
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) both in-person and remote.
  • Experience in prioritizing and understanding the lifecycle of documentation from pre-release through on-going maintenance.
  • Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
