Overview:

The Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and account and bank reconciliations. The Accountant will also assist with monthly closings, account analysis, and support other accountants in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

Requirements:

• BA/BS or higher in the following fields: Accounting or Finance with at least 6 years of task related experience
• Experience supporting a NASA/DoD contract.
• Advanced EXCEL capability.
• Familiarity with government reporting including the NASA 533 is preferred.
• Strong multi-taking skills.
• Ability to communicate with personnel across all levels of the organization.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
• Intermediate to Advanced computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Access. Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred.
• Ability to enter data accurately into databases.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting monthly costs incurred and Estimates At Completion (EAC) on a NASA FORM 533.
• Experience using Deltek Costpoint and downloading monthly costs for inclusion in the NF533.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
• Report organization's finances to management, and offer suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
• Possess knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of federal government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
• The Accountant may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
