Title: Associate Scientist
Location: Storrs, CT

Salary: $75k and up depending on experience
Shift: Mon-Fri 7:30am- 4pm

Overview:
Serve as an entry level scientist in the conduct of assigned research studies, to include study management, interpretation and reporting of study data, and assuring the regulatory compliance of these projects where applicable.
Primary Responsibilities:
- With guidance from senior scientific staff, serve as a scientist in the direction and execution of assigned studies in compliance with USDA/GMP regulations as they apply to the conduct of research.
- Generate high-quality protocols, amendments, and reports appropriate for assigned studies.
- Perform and execute studies in the laboratory according to the study protocol. Review, interpret, integrate, and present data on assigned studies, using the assistance of senior scientific staff as appropriate.
- Plan and execute, with guidance from senior scientific staff, assigned client related studies, including study scheduling, conduct, and reporting.
- Provide technical guidance to the research staff.
- Attend scientific meetings and conferences to enhance job and professional skills.
- Investigate and develop new methodologies used in studies with guidance from senior scientific staff.
- Assist in long-term projects (redesign of SOPs, basic research procedures or report formats).
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in a scientific related discipline. Related Master's degree (M.S./M.A.) a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years related experience in agricultural research or pharmaceutical industry, to include at least 2 years as a Research Associate or equivalent role.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Other: Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. and with standard laboratory calculations. Full understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned based on USDA and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required talk, hear and work/type at a computer
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- A typical workday may involve extended periods of either standing or sitting.
- General laboratory working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally be required to wear protective clothing (goggles, face shield, surgical mask, cap, gloves, scrubs, boots), work near toxic or caustic chemicals and work with biohazards. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and unpleasant odors.
