Aviation Technician
Location: Kent, WA
Salary: $44-46/hr

Employment Type: 6 month assignment with potential for extension or conversion
Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5pm to 5:30am; Training will be on Day shift, Monday to Friday
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with assembly of turbomachinery/propulsion systems, aircraft or automotive engines, or other highly technical machinery.
- 5+ years experience in propulsion assembly, integration, and testing preferred.
- A&P license or equivalent experience in integration and test of propulsion systems preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings required.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals/detailed work instructions required.
- Strong mechanical competence with the ability to use hand and power tools required.
- Ability to accurately use precision measurement and inspection tools required.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills required.
- Knowledge of precision inspection equipment preferred.
- Experience with critical sealing surface requirements preferred.
- Experience with thread insert installation and thread tapping tools preferred.
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts on flight hardware preferred.
- Experience with 3D measurement tools, such as Faro Arms/Trackers and Verisurf software preferred.
- Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard preferred.
- Physical Requirement: climb ladders & stairs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs for limited durations of time.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Duties:
- Perform hands-on assembly and maintenance of cutting-edge rocket engine turbomachinery.
- Share in the team s impact on all aspects of Turbopump assembly, disassembly, testing, and tool/fixture design.
- Provide critical feedback to make improvements with respect to process control, capability, and repeatability.
- Precision assembly of rocket engines.
- Detailed component inspection using calipers, micrometers, etc. to tolerances of 0.0001 .
- Coordinating hardware processing such as inspection, cleaning, and shipping.
- Hardware management under critical cleanliness requirements (liquid oxygen service).
- Safely working with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure.
- Assist engineers in reviewing design concepts, providing feedback for improvements.
- Familiarity working with assembly fixture tooling.
- Review and follow work instructions for complex mechanical installations.
- Innovate to improve processes and increase efficiency of operations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
