Aviation Integration Technician

Location: Merritt Island, FL

Salary: $46.20/hr

Industry: Aerospace/Manufacturing

Employment Type: 6 month assignment w/ potential for extension or conversion

Shift: Monday to Friday 2:30PM to 10:30PM

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, aviation, integration, or another relevant field
  • Experience in at least one of the following is required: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person
  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • 5-10 years of aerospace or relate aviation integration experience including but not limited to high pressure systems, hydraulics, wire harness routing, installation of hardware, and associated brackets.
  • Structure experience is a plus.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field
  • Proven success as a hands-on technical leader
  • Work optimally with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Continuous improvement attitude. Our job is never complete; we are always refining and improving
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
  • Experience in handling large aerospace components
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
  • Experience in new product introduction
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture, assemble, and test aerospace rocket equipment according to written procedures
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment
  • Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles
  • Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment as required
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and background
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
  • Work at Heights on work stands and in lifts
  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs
  • Ability to work off-shift, extended overtime, and weekends if/when vital
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision
