CAD / GIS Drafter (Active TS/SCI)

Summary:

The Operations Technician (CAD) works directly with the engineering staff using AutoCAD to create and maintain design and as-built drawings for Inside and Outside telecommunication projects while following established standards and procedures. The Technician will also create maps using ArcGIS, update network records using spatialNet and Newtin.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s Degree in engineering or related field
• 4+ years of drafting/mapping or equivalent work experience
• Recent drafting experience utilizing AutoCAD 2018 or later
• Experience using Microsoft Excel required
• Experience using ArcMap or spatialNet preferred
• Occasional local travel required
• Active TS/SCI required

Duties:

• Create Inside Plant (floor plans and rack elevation) and Outside Plant (fiber route & detail) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel (Cable Running Lists)
• Serves as the primary point of contact for producing drawing and mapping deliverables
• Researches, assesses, and collects geographic data for updating and maintaining background and base layer maps
• Produces and maintains ArcView Shapefiles, Google Earth .kml/.kmz files, and spatial database data for internal and Program Office use
• Acts as primary contact for supporting Route Technicians as they require clarification of data from As-built drawings
• Interfaces with project team members to ensure budgeted hours and schedules are met
