Our client is a US-based, FDA approved sterile injectable CDMO manufacturer of parenteral drugs with a world-class facility focused on ready-to-use pre-filled syringes and vials. They serve as an outsourced contract manufacturing partner for strategic pharmaceutical companies.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety protocols, environmental waste management procedures, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with various departments to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Procedure Development and SOP Creation:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to environmental health, safety, and waste management.
    • Ensure all EHS-related SOPs are up to date, accurate, and compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Monitor, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
    • Ensure company operations comply with all OSHA safety regulations and environmental laws.
    • Prepare and manage documentation for regulatory inspections, audits, and certifications.
  3. Environmental Waste Management:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor processes for handling hazardous materials, waste disposal, and recycling efforts.
    • Ensure all environmental waste management complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Develop strategies to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.
  4. Training and Education:
    • Conduct safety training for employees regarding workplace safety, emergency procedures, proper handling of hazardous materials, and waste management.
    • Ensure all employees are trained and kept up to date on EHS protocols and best practices.
  5. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
    • Work closely with other departments, including operations, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to support EHS initiatives.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
  6. Nice to have:
  • Experience working with Operation teams planning, coordinating and execution on various facilities-related projects which many include installation of new equipment, machinery, facility upgrades, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working under tight deadlines and with diverse teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in environmental health and safety, preferably within the pharmaceutical or cGMP manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and industry best practices for EHS.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials management and waste disposal requirements.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, or CHMM) is a plus.
  • Experience overseeing and managing various operational projects.
