In addition, offer numerous diagnostic testing and manufacturing support services, including virus propagation and isolation, custom cell production, and quality control testing. They also support the development of new therapeutics by providing antibodies such as IgY for use in clinical trials.

Overview:
Manage all maintenance department and recycle crew operations, including construction and repair projects, to ensure efficient quality operation of the physical plants on the production farms.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee construction and repair projects. Act as Project Manager.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise the day-to-day operations and activities of maintenance department. Assess appropriate workload and provide suggestions for improvement. Provide guidance on coordination of maintenance department workload and disbursement of work assignments.
  • Oversee activities of the recycle crew.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance appropriate to areas such as plant structures and related mechanical, electrical, water and sewage operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality practices and procedures for all maintenance work.
  • Research and recommend the capital improvement budget for the maintenance area.
  • Coordinate purchasing and contractor services for maintenance operations with the Production Manager. Ensure contractors adhere to Biosecurity and Safety policies.
  • Represent the company at town meetings in support of projects and/or facilities related items.
  • Prepare informal reports for management review and approval as assigned.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed. Ensure continuous operation of critical systems.
  • Manage activities of assigned group(s) to ensure effective performance of function.
  • Monitor performance of direct reports. Provide regular coaching and counseling. Prepare and deliver salary and performance reviews; review and approve performance and salary appraisals initiated by direct reports
Job Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about inside and outside, often on uneven surfaces. Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media, sources and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange information in these situations. Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee regularly wears protective clothing. The employee occasionally is exposed to wet, humid and/or extreme temperature conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Bachelor s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Five years related experience, preferably in engineering or construction trades.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: Licensure in one or more trades preferred
