Federal Paralegal

Salary: Up to $77K
Location: Washington, DC

Clearance: Active Top Secret with SSBI and ability to obtain SCI clearance

  • Two or more years of litigation paralegal experience with trial experience.
  • Successful completion of Paralegal degree or certificate program.
  • Shall have a sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Shall have excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Shall perform legal research and writing.
  • Shall prepare legal memoranda and correspondence,
  • Shall assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including aiding with discovery requests and responses: reviewing documents for relevance and privilege: drafting motions and briefs: organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices: and assisting at trial.
  • Shall have excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel. PowerPoint and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Shall consistently demonstrate ability to work as part of a team and manage complex relationships with all stake-holders.
  • Shall consistently deliver highest quality work under pressure.
  • Shall have hands-on experience or training with ESI tools and general knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
  • Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for advice or legal technical assistance;
  • Research and locate responsive information and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles;
  • Perform typical Paralegal functions, including: moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviewing case related materials; and identifying potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation;
  • Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence;
  • Assist in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
