Client Overview: Our client is a US-based, FDA approved sterile injectable CDMO manufacturer of parenteral drugs with a world-class facility focused on ready-to-use pre-filled syringes and vials. They serve as an outsourced contract manufacturing partner for strategic pharmaceutical companies.

Position Overview: The Head of Facility/Utilities/Engineering oversees daily facility operations including the utilities operations, building maintenance and repair, equipment maintenance and repair and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. This position is the leader of a small group. This position also develops, engages, and leads process engineering designs and projects. This employee should have good communication skills, organizational skills, and the capacity to perform tasks according to standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities:
The employee should successfully meet schedules in a high quality and professional manner and ensure areas of responsibility conform to cGMP, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies. Always maintains the GMP areas in a state of control.
  • Maintain the facility, utilities and equipment in good working order to support manufacturing and laboratory operations.
  • Lead minor and major equipment purchases and installations
  • Responsible for the preparation, execution and documentation of Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) for equipment, facilities and utilities.
  • Ensure that equipment, utilities, and facilities are properly maintained and serviced, and that proper documentation is in order.
  • Coordinate, plan and oversee semi-annual maintenance and calibration shutdowns.
  • Develop and maintain CapEx budget and planning.
  • Develop and adhere to area budget.
  • Creation and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for areas of responsibility.
  • Support, develop and lead staff.
  • Assist with various special ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of three years experience at a pharmaceutical plant. Good process engineering and mechanical skills.
  • Experience trouble shooting PLC driven machinery and processes.
  • Good project management training and skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
Physical:
  • Employees must be able to lift or handle objects not more than 50 pounds to perform certain duties essential to the job function.
  • Employees may be required to perform tasks essential to the job function in areas that require the use of hearing protection devices.
  • Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals or pharmaceutical agents (including potent compounds).
  • Employees must be able to wear respiratory protection (filtering facepiece, 1/2 face, full-face, or powered air purifying respirator, supplied air, or self-contained breathing apparatus) for certain tasks essential to the job function.
