Laboratory Technician

Environment: Our client is an FDA-registered manufacturer of Towelettes and Alcohol Prep-pads specialized in both food and medical services industries. They work under the FDA, cGMP, CFR-21 and USP standards.

Responsibilities: The Laboratory Technician is expected to support daily laboratory operations.
  • Check in completed samples for laboratory testing.
  • Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, environmental monitoring and equipment cleaning validation samples
  • Autoclave micro supplies and sample cups.
  • Preform in-process testing such as BZK titrations and specific gravity on blends.
  • Complete batch records after all testing are complete and give files to QM weekly.
  • Perform physical review of samples expiring out of retains, documenting the review, and disposing of samples.
  • Maintain lot testing samples on storage shelf.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and notify QM when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Make needed media as needed. This includes, but is not limited to: Buffers, Agars-pouring plates, Broths, specialty media for validation. If the lab has a new project or test method to validate, the Lab Tech may be asked to assist and support the project.
  • Clean, sweep floors, organize lab and wash laboratory equipment.
  • Put away and maintain sample retains.
  • Clean autoclaves on a rotating weekly schedule.
  • Assist with compounding, pallets checks and/or quality checks when needed.
  • After the Laboratory Technician has been in the position for 1-3 months and is able to manage the tasks above, they will then begin training on: growth promotion testing, weekly water and blend testing, counting micro plates and recording data.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year laboratory experience using various equipment such as Titrators, Agar Pour Plates, Buffers, etc. to test various in-process samples (pharmaceutical, medical device, food/beverage and related industries preferred).
  • Minimum one year of documentation and review of batch records.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
