Overview: We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems within a federal facility environment. This role is ideal for a skilled electrician with strong troubleshooting abilities and experience supporting mission-critical building operations and emergency response activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations and support critical facility operations
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution systems and related equipment
- Manage and support systems including HVAC components, generators, UPS systems, DC power systems, load transfer systems, and fire/life safety equipment
- Conduct facility walk-throughs and monitor system conditions including power availability, alarms, temperature, and humidity levels
- Complete and document work orders accurately, including labor hours and materials used
- Submit work order documentation at the end of each shift
- Coordinate and oversee vendors during maintenance activities, emergency events, and repair operations
- Utilize safe working practices including lockout/tagout procedures, MSDS compliance, and proper housekeeping methods
- Identify required materials and parts for maintenance projects and assist with repair estimates and procurement support
- Read and apply NEC and NFPA codes and standards in daily maintenance operations
- Perform additional facility maintenance duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License required
- Strong knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) standards
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards including NFPA 70, 99, 101, and 110
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or critical facility electrical systems preferred
- Ability to utilize standard office and administrative software
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities regularly
- Ability to walk, climb, squat, crawl, kneel, reach overhead, and safely work from ladders while carrying tools
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and distinguish colors as needed for electrical work
- Work will be performed within a federal facility and critical infrastructure environment
- Exposure to electrical systems, machinery, mechanical equipment, and emergency response situations may occur
- Position may require working in physically demanding conditions and responding to urgent facility needs
- Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to strict safety procedures required
- Support high-visibility federal facility and infrastructure operations
