Mechanical Assembler

Location: Port Orange, FL 32128

Industry: Aerospace / Manufacturing

Salary: $20-22/hr

Employment Type: Temporary, through April

Schedule: Mondays to Thursdays, 6am to 4:30pm & Fridays 6am to 3:30pm

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years' experience in mechanical assembling, cabling and proven proficiency in mechanical assembly/rework experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read, comprehend and work from written work instructions and drawings technical in nature.
  • Able to perform a variety of operations to assemble/rework/modify electronic and electro-mechanical products and repair, using hand tools such as screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and other various hand tools, and ESD monitoring system.
  • Must be able to commit to reliability and attendance.

Duties:

  • Apply mechanical knowledge to perform routine and/or complex tasks.
  • Operate power and hand tools used in an Electro/Mechanical environment.
  • Accurately complete sub and higher-level assembly builds working from moderate to complex drawings and work instructions.
  • Display a moderate level of computer proficiency with high level of computer hardware knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting electro and mechanical failure modes. Work with internal customers and suppliers to identify root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Use test equipment to validate product quality and reliability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement culture and Lean metric reporting. Actively participate in continuous improvement events driving improvement opportunities in products and processes.
  • Frequently solder and crimp various sizes of wire; assembly of wire circuits, cables and electronic components.
  • Effectively completing assembly builds on moderate to complex 1st article assemblies building to company s quality, IPC workmanship standards, and best practices.
  • Complete and pass IPC certifications for the latest revision of J and 620 standards.
  • Assist in on the job training efforts to lower-level assemblers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or sit. Occasionally required to climb or balance; use hands to touch, hands and arms to reach forward or overhead. Frequently lift up to 35lbs unassisted and occasionally assist moving up to 100lbs. Specific vision requirements include color, close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to work with hazardous materials. Work environment is frequently performed in a climate-controlled environment and occasionally a non-climate-controlled setting. Employee may be exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level is low to moderate in the manufacturing area and moderate/loud in the trailer storage area.
