Salary: $20.00/hr. (based off experience)
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for entering, editing, and transmitting claims information, insurance eligibility, and demographic characteristics into the company billing system
- Creates and mails insurance claims and patient statements
- Analyze claims and ensure that there is no missing or incomplete information
- Performs all stages of the billing process to properly bill Medicare and Medicaid as well as track remittance from Medicare and Medicaid accordingly
- Posts insurance payments accurately to patient accounts in computerized system
- Re-bill insurance companies or other third parties to secure payment for patients
- Identifies patient billing and statement concerns in a timely manner
- Verifies updated insurance and patient information as well as retrieve missing claim information and validate the information on all medical claims received
- Troubleshoot any problems encountered in the verification process thus lessening the likelihood of payment and collection problems
- Makes recommendations to management for write-offs
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required
- 1+ years of related work experience
- Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations
- Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written
- Interpret a variety of communications (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening and visual)
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
- Multi-task along with attention to detail
- Self-motivation, organized, time-management and deductive problem-solving skills
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Lift and carry office equipment at times around the office
- Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening
- Requires close vision to small print on computer and/or tablet and paperwork
