Microbiologist

Title: Microbiologist
Location: Brooksville, FL
Industry: Medical Device
Hours: 1st shift M-F, 8am-4pm
Pay Rate: $25-$30/hr
Employment Type: Contract to hire


Environment: Our client is an FDA-registered manufacturer of Towelettes and Alcohol Prep-pads specialized in both food and medical services industries. They work under the FDA, cGMP, CFR-21 and USP standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct microbiology testing for raw materials, in process materials, finished products, stability samples, and water purification system.
  • Develop microbiology procedures, validate new product methods, and write reports.
  • Prepare and properly sterilize media and equipment needed for microbiological testing.
  • Assist with stability program, including sample set up, pulling samples, and conducting microbial testing.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Document all test results and maintain laboratory notebooks.
  • Interpret test results, compare specifications, make product recommendations.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted under current Good Manufacturing Practices, using established methods, and following SOPs.
  • Write SOPs for microbiology and update existing standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with general Quality Control procedures in manufacturing, such as pallet checks, microbial swabs of tanks, environmental testing, and making product blends.
  • Collect samples of raw materials for retain and analysis.
  • Perform basic lab tasks such as cleaning equipment and washing glassware.
Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology, Biology, or related science degree
  • 3 - 5 or more years of industry experience in microbiology testing and method validation, preferably with OTCs or pharmaceuticals
  • Works well independently with minimal supervision but can also work in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, needs to interact well with team members
  • Familiar with FDA regulations related to OTC products
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
