Tool and Mold Specialist
Location: Sarasota, FL 34243
Salary: $29-$35/hour
Industry: Aviation/Manufacturing
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (Enjoy a 3-day weekend!)
Employment: Temporary for 6 Months; potential to move to another role after
Summary: The Model Maker will support Rubber Room Molds and sustaining production lines, using skills, methods, processes and tools associated with mold maker and machine shop environment
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in prototype model making or similar preferred.
- Ability to work on different types of machinery such as mills, lathes, grinders.
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawings.
- A thorough knowledge of manual machining operations.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Detailed knowledge of measuring tools. Calipers, Micrometers, Optical comparator etc.
- Ability to perform repair and maintenance activities on various manual machines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7 years experience in manual machining.
- Understanding of Mold making and maintenance.
- Ability to assess proper material for tooling capability and longevity.
- Working level knowledge of CAD software.
- Computer skills using Microsoft office products.
- Computer skills using CAD software.
- Knowledge in GD&T
- An understanding of stamping and forming tools to fabricate prototype parts.
- Develop and Maintain tools and fixtures utilized for the production of aerospace components.
- Actively a part of the 6S culture by maintaining the cleanliness, safety and organization of the work area.
- Maintenance of production tooling (pinning, molding, etc.)
- Assisting model shop and maintenance team when needed.
- Development of PM s based on required maintenance for production tooling, fixtures and molds.
- Continuous improvement of existing tooling when applicable.
- Supporting Manufacturing Engineering and Operations with manufacturability feedback.
- Willing to work overtime
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
- Physical Demands: Sitting: 30% / Standing: 70% / Lifting: 35lb at a time, <10% of the time
