Aircraft Painter
Salary: $22/hour+ (depending on experience)
Location: Wichita, KS 67209
Industry: Aviation
Shifts: 2nd Shift, M-F, 3pm-11:30pm
Employment Type: Long term contract with potential for fulltime employment
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience which must include preparation and painting aircraft or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and repair manuals.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to General Work Requirements
- Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface
- Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint
- Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay
- Mask, unmask, and remask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage
- Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, airblower, and/or brushes
- Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint
- Apply alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment
- Assist with the application of primers to aircraft surface
- Assist with painting parts, components, and/or aircraft surface
- Assist with checking for imperfections after painting and striping application using discrepancy sheet and documented squawks and perform touch-up work as required
- Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
- Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required
- May perform Designated Inspector (DI) function as qualified by QA
- Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification
- Apply base coat of paint, stripes, decals, and vinyl appliques to aircraft surface
- Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification
