Summary:
We are searching for a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to join our client s talented team. The successful candidate will ensure accurate processing and recording of payrolls. They will be able to use accounting and payroll software accurately and efficiently. They will pay attention to details, work efficiently under time restrictions, and be trusted with sensitive information.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor s Degree or 5 plus years of payroll work experience.
- Attention to detail critical to successful performance.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Must have experience with paying state taxes directly on the state websites. (941, 940)
- Computer literate and competent in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet.
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly when needed; able to work well under stress while still meeting deadlines.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
- Previous experience with Government Contracting a plus.
- Previous experience with Deltek Costpoint and SharePoint a plus.
Duties:
- Comply with local, state, and federal government payroll reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Weekly review of employees timecards and work with management for timecard corrections.
- Process Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals and maintain advance PTO files.
- Perform semi-monthly payroll processes that include:
- Importing, proofing, editing, processing, and transmitting payroll wages, deductions, reimbursements, and bonuses
- Manual payments consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
- Ensure timely processing of all new hires, promotions, and terminations.
- Collaborate and verify data and input into the payroll system (DELTEK COSTPOINT).
- Assist HR with auditing employee records.
- Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle.
- Prepare, file, and pay reports and forms required by the IRS and State Governments.
- Update employees timecards with new option year lines.
- Follow all processing procedures, adhere to policies, and maintain confidentiality.
- Answer employees payroll questions.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirement: Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Position requires ability to work on desktop or laptop computer, sometimes for extended periods of time, reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports via email or otherwise in written format. May be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 15 pounds.
