Overview: We are searching for a qualified Product Engineer Team Lead to join our client s growing team! The Team Lead will develop and lead up to 10 engineers in the crucial task of maintaining and enhancing the client s existing product portfolio of electrical power distribution components and systems. The team will be the driving force behind the continued success and customer satisfaction of the products throughout their lifecycle. In this pivotal role, the Team Lead will be responsible for orchestrating the team's efforts to ensure product sustainability, reliability, performance, and quality, all while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation in alignment with the company s Guiding Principles.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, or Electrical or a relevant technical field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong technical background in understanding product design, production processing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies and product/process improvement initiatives accompanied with the ability to implement data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices. Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with schedule constraints.
  • Skilled in maintaining cross-organizational collaboration to ensure successful task completion.
  • Experience in employing root cause analysis methodologies and driving process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, enabling successful interaction with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Proficiency in resource allocation, project management, and scheduling to ensure efficient utilization of available resources.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and informative presentations that convey complex technical concepts with clarity.
  • Competency in developing, tracking, and budgeting project plans, ensuring the successful execution of initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Due to ITAR requirements, US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Duties:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a multi-site team of sustaining engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and technical support.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of sustaining engineering activities and overall product health.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of ongoing product maintenance and improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality assurance, supply chain, programs and customer support, to prioritize and address product sustainability (material obsolescence, shortages, etc.).
  • Drive the development and implementation of engineering solutions to enhance product reliability, stability, and performance.
  • Provide timely support to the electronics labs as assigned by management and participate in the communication with the authorities (DLA, NAVAIR, FAA).
  • Collaborate with product management and R&D teams to identify opportunities for product improvements and optimizations.
  • Manage the introduction of engineering changes and updates to existing products, while minimizing disruption to customers and stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations into complex technical issues, conducting and documenting thorough root cause analysis to identify underlying problems and systemic trends.
  • Develop strategies to prevent recurring issues by addressing underlying causes and implementing long-term corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to address component obsolescence, supply chain issues, and other challenges affecting product availability.
  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers as needed to ensure a robust and reliable supply chain.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date technical documentation is maintained for all products, including design specifications, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance procedures.
  • Promote the use of standardized engineering practices and documentation methodologies and ensure processes and industry best practices are adhered to.
  • Supervisory responsibilities: lead the team of 5 to 10 engineers across 1 to 2 sites
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting 70% / Standing 20% / Walking & Lifting 10% Work Environment is split between office work and working on the shop floor and in the Testing Laboratory with production and testing technicians. Must be available for business travel as needed.
