Production Engineer

Location: Merritt Island, FL

Salary: $49-59/hr

Industry: Aerospace/Manufacturing

Employment Type: 6 month assignment w/ potential for extension or conversion

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

Overview:

We are searching for an enthusiastic, qualified production engineer who is looking to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact human spaceflight. Passion for our client s mission and vision is required!

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree (or higher) required in Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, Automation, or other relevant engineering field.
  • 5+ years experience designing, integrating tooling or equipment used in the manufacture, assembly, and test of aerospace hardware.
  • Strong abilities in all phases of control and automation production machinery from cradle to grave including design, process definition and simplification, deployment, qualification, troubleshooting code as well as electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with design, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and maintenance of automated equipment/machinery used for processing aerospace vehicle and component production or ground support equipment.
  • Experience in building, maintaining, and installing assembly machinery, machine tool, production automation, test automation machinery, robotic work cells, fabrication machinery, automated guided vehicles, etc. This is a machine and tooling position, responsible for ensuring production automation machinery functions as needed.
  • Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which include motors, servos, drives, pumps, relays, PLC, HMI, safety devices, 3 phase power, communication devices and all phases of industrial electrical controls.
  • Ability to set up both A/C and D/C drives as well as possessing the ability to troubleshoot PLC code. Must be able to create/generate machine control logic (PLC programming experience) using Siemens TIA portal and/or Rockwell.
  • Experience developing and validating specifications for the contracting of production machinery that is used in the manufacturing of aerospace vehicles.
  • Experience leading contractors during the design, assembly, and installation phases of the tooling and equipment design process.
  • Proficient with Controls and Automation Hardware/Software (ex. Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell, Beckhoff, PLC programming/debug, six-axis mechanical robot programming (Fanuc, KUKA)
  • Ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • A demeanor of outstanding quality, attention to detail, and dedication
  • Ability to communicate successfully, clearly, and with modesty to collaborators and customers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Familiar with various control systems standards such as IEC 61131, ANSI B11, NFPA 79, and RIA 15.06
  • Experience with writing and developing software in a high-level language such as Python, C#, etc.
  • Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation experience
  • Experience with electrical verification of machines.
  • Experience with process automation equipment & tooling.

Responsibilities:

  • Support production and manufacturing groups across the company by crafting automated production machinery and establishing standards, processes, and guides for the design of control systems for spaceflight vehicle manufacturing and production.
  • Share in the team s impact on all aspects of controls conceptualization, design, configuration, verification, installation, testing, and support.
  • Through conversations with internal customers and external vendors, develop controls processes and standards while supporting tooling control projects from inception through commissioning as well as supporting the machinery on the production floor by troubleshooting problems in real time.
  • This position specializes in tooling through design, specifications and post commission support.
  • Additionally, support requests from development labs for specialty equipment and other emergent needs by providing rapid turnaround of well-designed and cost-efficient systems.
  • Critical production support is the mainstay of this position where you will be the first responder to controls related stop production issues and will be the focal solution provider in these instances.
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.
