Senior Accountant

Location: Stockton, CA (100% Onsite)

Industry: Aerospace / Defense Manufacturing

Salary: $75k-$110k Depending on Experience

Summary:

We are searching for an experienced Accountant to join our Aerospace client s team! The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-level financial analysis, overseeing complex accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. Working closely with finance leadership, the successful candidate will contribute to month-end close, audit support, and financial reporting activities, helping to ensure accurate and timely financial information. The successful candidate will also oversee day-to-day transactions to ensure accurate and timely processes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or similar setting required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in ERP systems required.
  • Experience in a private company, multi-site, 500+ employees required.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in POC accounting and government accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standards, and software systems, including ERP systems. Visibility a plus
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively address issues.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in financial processes. Proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze results and trends, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Month-End Close: Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Ensure all entries are completed accurately and on time.
  • Reconciliations: Conduct complex reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Audit Preparation & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, maintaining organized documentation, and collaborating with auditors to address inquiries.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working with various departments to align financial projections with company objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, contributing to enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight: Provide oversight for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and resolution of issues.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Ability to sit for extended periods of time and perform desk-based computer tasks. There may be occasional lifting of under 25lbs. Workspace is indoors in a temperature controlled, generally quiet office building. There may be occasional sounds from equipment or work activity on the manufacturing production floor felt nearby.
