Schedule: M-TH 6AM-4:30PM + Rotating Fridays 6AM-3:30PM
Employment Type: Contract (through 2026 with potential to extend)
Pay: $19/hour
Overview:
The Machine Shop Aide supports machinists and shop operations by assisting with material handling, machine operation support, and general shop maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring a clean and safe work environment, and assisting with CNC machine operations as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist machinists with lifting, moving, and positioning materials and parts
- Support the setup and operation of CNC machines under supervision
- Load and unload materials from CNC equipment
- Perform shop cleanup, including sweeping, organizing, and maintaining work areas
- Remove carbon fiber residue from MDF surfaces using appropriate tools and methods
- Dispose of scrap materials and maintain proper waste handling procedures
- Follow all safety guidelines and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Assist in building mechanical assemblies, as required
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and shop equipment preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to learn CNC machine operations and shop processes
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- A mindset focused on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for an extended period, including frequent lifting, bending, and carrying materials. Must be able to safely lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance)
- Ability to work in a shop environment with dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
