Job Title: Technical Writer - Engineering
Location: Davie FL 33314
Salary: $35.00 per hour
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Position Type: Contract, 100% Onsite
Position Summary:
The Technical Writer - Engineering is responsible for implementing, supporting, and managing practices and projects that enhance quality, reliability, and efficiency in an engineering context. This role combines a deep understanding of equipment, processes, and management systems with expertise in lean concepts to drive quality investigations and corrective actions related to equipment and processes. The goal is to foster standardization, simplification, and efficiency within the organization's culture.
Essential Areas of Responsibility:
Adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and relevant state, federal, and local laws.
Profound knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
Writing quality deviation reports and overseeing the writing/editing of change controls and CAPA's related to quality deviations and process enhancements.
Development and interpretation of equipment reliability metrics.
Leadership in problem-solving and root cause analysis initiatives to eliminate defects and waste, as well as overseeing the implementation of preventive actions.
Training of technicians and mechanics in lean concepts, zero-loss culture, ownership culture, and equipment operating principles.
Conducting or supporting operator technical training.
Tracking and reporting on quantifiable goals and objectives.
Adherence to approved safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Handling other assigned projects and duties.
Education/Certification/Experience:
3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a regulated environment - REQUIRED
Proficiency in writing quality investigations and executing CAPA related to process equipment, facilities, and utilities.
Understanding of pharmaceutical processes.
Experience with investigative tools and analyses such as RCA, FMEA, Ishikawa Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Chart, 5 Whys, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Scatter Diagram, Affinity Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc.
Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems for data analysis related to equipment maintenance and calibration plans, scheduling, and execution.
Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
Operational Excellence experience is a plus.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficiency in training technicians and mechanics on lean concepts, zero-loss culture, ownership culture, and equipment operating principles relevant to their job functions.
Ability to conduct or support operator technical training.
Effective tracking of results and reporting on quantifiable goals and objectives.
Strict adherence to approved safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Handling of other assigned projects and duties.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Informal leadership ability in a team-based culture and comfort working with personnel at all levels.
Understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and technologies.
Reading and interpretation of blueprints and schematics.
Capability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
Problem Solving:
Handling assignments that range from routine to semi-routine, requiring the ability to identify deviations from accepted practices.
Leading root cause analyses and quality investigations related to equipment and systems malfunctions.
Exercising judgment within defined practices and policies, selecting methods and techniques for problem resolution.
Providing general instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignments to direct reports when necessary.
Making recommendations for problem resolution methods and procedures as requested.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for extended periods at a workstation or equipment.
Walking to move short distances quickly and frequently.
Sitting for extended periods at a workstation or mobile equipment.
Frequent motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (Repetitive Motions).
